Nucor's DiMicco Named AISI Chairman
June 1, 2010Comments
The board of directors of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), Washington, D.C., elected Daniel R. DiMicco as its chairman until May 2011. DiMicco, president and CEO of Nucor Corp., will be tasked with “making our voice resonate on Capitol Hill and toward mobilizing our industry’s grassroots power,” says AISI president and CEO Thomas J. Gibson. Issues important to the industry and on which DiMicco will be a leading spokesman: strengthening pro-manufacturing public policies, and maintaining the competitiveness of the North American steel industry.
During his chairman’s address, DiMicco challenged fellow industry executives to “join the battle. Our policy goals won’t be achieved on their own. It will require an aggressive stand on key issues, activating our industry’s grassroots power more effectively than we have done in the past, and responding with a strong and unified voice to misguided policies.” AISI is online at www.steel.org.
