MetalForming LIVE on the Shop Floor: Pressroom Automation, April 25
After a widely successful inaugural event last year with more than 300 attendees, MetalForming LIVE is back again! This year we are kicking it up a notch by expanding the event to include MetalForming LIVE on the Shop Floor, taking place on April 25, which features interviews with executives from Clips & Clamps Industries (Plymouth, MI) and Sukup Manufacturing Co. (Sheffield, IA). Both companies will discuss their use of automation technology, and we’ll share videos from their pressrooms featuring robotic technology in action. Learn how:
  • Clips & Clamps Industries has just launched a new three-robot production cell designed to provide value-added production of wire forms, including cold heading, coining, piercing, stamping and resistance welding.
  • Sukup Manufacturing Co. has a press-tending robot at work in its pressroom. The robot, installed midway through 2021 and tending a two-press production-stamping operation, automates what had been three manual operations.
Register today and reserve your seat at this informative event!

Safety Tip: OSHA Seeks Public Comments on Modernizing its VPP, Recognizing Safety-Conscious Employers
The U.S. Department of Labor announced that its Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is inviting the public and workplace-safety stakeholders to share their comments on how the agency can best honor companies that make exceptional commitments to workplace safety and health and encourage others to follow.

OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) recognizes workplaces that demonstrate best practices in safety and health management and serve as industry models. Since its inception in 1982, the program has attracted a variety of organizations in many industries. However, that success has stretched OSHA resources and made it more difficult to ensure the quality of program applicants’ safety and health management systems.

Working Group Formed to Improve Medical-Device Quality, Supply-Chain Resiliency
Representatives from the medical-device industry, government and industry associations have formed a working group to identify and recommend best practices to improve medical-device quality and enhance supply-chain resiliency. This new Best Practices in Supply Chain Resiliency and Quality Working Group aims to expand the adoption of the MedAccred program (administered by the Performance Review Institute) through the tiers in the supply chain, identify best practices to supplement efforts in quality assurance and procurement strategies, and help mitigate supply-chain risks.

A Calculated Approach to ESG Reporting
A recent blog post from the strategists at Riveron stresses that “because companies will face increased scrutiny over their disclosed ESG (environmental, social and governance) data and commitments, the data need to be consistent, reliable and comparable year-over-year. This requires an alignment of internal stakeholders and resources to manage ESG data and the reporting process.”

The post suggests that companies look at ESG from a risk-management perspective to help “transform ESG from a compliance exercise into a competitive business.”

Lots of good advice here.
