VDM Metals of Germany, with VDM Metals USA LLC as its U.S. operation, has added new alloys to its portfolio, designed for use in additive manufacturing (AM).

VDM Alloy 699 XA, a nickel-chromium-aluminum alloy, is available in powder form as VDM Powder 699 XA and is suitable for applications in the petrochemical industry. It reportedly provides oxidation resistance at high temperature and creep resistance, as well as excellent weldability.

VDM Alloy 718 CTP, an age-hardenable nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum alloy, is available in powder form as VDM Powder 718 CTP. It reportedly proves ideal for use in the oil & gas, offshore and marine engineering industries, due to better segregation behavior during the build process and reduced cracking as compared to standard Type 718 alloy.
