Completely Biodegradable and Recyclable Corrosion-Inhibiting Films
June 2, 2025Comments
Daubert Cromwell has launched Daubert VCI films with BioNatur, reportedly the first and only 100%-biodegradable and 100%-recyclable corrosion-inhibiting films. The films biodegrade over time in landfill environments, breaking down into soil, gases, and water without leaving behind microplastics. And, they are fully recyclable with standard polyethylene materials, offering a cost-effective, sustainable packaging alternative to traditional polyethylene films, which can take hundreds of years to decompose.
Specifically, these new films, while maintaining the same strength and corrosion protection as standard Daubert VCI films, biodegrade in landfill environments within 8–12 yr., and can be recycled with other polyethylene products with no restrictions or separation required.
Proprietary BioNatur additives transform these polyethylene films into digestible food sources for microbes found in landfills. These microbes break the plastic down completely—unlike oxodegradable plastics, which only fragment into microplastics.
Daubert VCI films with BioNatur are available worldwide and can be produced using any of Daubert Cromwell’s proprietary VCI chemistries, including Premium Metal-Guard and Clear Pak film lines. And, they’re also available in recycled-content versions such as Clear Pak RC and Premium Metal-Guard RC.
