NCMS Teams with Army, Industry and Academia to Launch Additive Research Initiative

The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS), in conjunction with the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL), top U.S. manufacturers, and several leading universities has launched the Advanced Manufacturing, Materials, and Processes (AMMP) to advance,
refine and transition scientific breakthroughs in materials and machinery,” according to Lisa Strama, president and CEO of the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS).
With the NCMS additive manufacturing research center in Aberdeen, MD serving as headquarters for the initiative, Strama, says that the group’s shared vision is to revolutionize defense logistics and strengthen the global competitiveness of the nation’s maker-base through next-generation manufacturing prowess.”
Eight AM projects have been awarded to AMMP in keeping with the ARL’s essential science and technology, feedstock, and prototyping areas of focus.
