Dual-Tower Sheet Metal Storage and Retrieval

Vidir Solutions has debuted its Dual-Tower Sheet Metal Vertical Lift System (VLS) for vertical sheet metal storage. Building on the performance of the company’s original Single-Tower Sheet Metal VLS, this dual-tower setup incorporates two storage towers serviced by a shared elevator mechanism. This approach delivers double the storage capacity and operational efficiency in a compact footprint that saves valuable floor space, without the need to install two separate units, explain company officials. Designed for space-constrained environments, the Dual-Tower VLS minimizes mechanical complexity and long-term maintenance requirements.
This new system reportedly delivers all the core benefits of Vidir’s standard sheet metal rack solution, including improved safety, rapid material retrieval and optimal vertical density for sheet metal storage, while maximizing return on investment (ROI). Users can store 290,000 lb. of sheet metal in only 280 sq. ft., with fewer moving parts and reduced service needs compared to traditional dual-unit installations. This consolidated design reportedly streamlines daily operation and enhances overall ROI through increased storage density, efficiency and lower total-ownership costs.
With a heavy-duty tray and tower design, this industrial storage racking system supports large-format sheet metal and high payloads for industrial applications, making it ideal for storing standard sheet sizes to 6 by 12 ft. The system protects valuable inventory while eliminating the need for forklifts and high-risk manual handling. Operators benefit from ergonomic, floor-level material access, which improves workplace safety and minimizes fatigue. Minimal operator training is required, and the intuitive controls support rapid adoption in busy production environments.
The Dual-Tower VLS features a modular tray system with height-adjustable storage locations to maximize density across a range of material types and thicknesses. Its durable steel construction is engineered for industrial-grade loads, while the servo motor and fixed-chain lift system ensure smooth, precise motion with minimal wear. CSA-compliant electrical components provide reliable operation in safety-regulated facilities.
Seamlessly integrating into modern workflows, the system is well-suited for use near cutting or forming machinery, supporting lean manufacturing and high-throughput applications. Optional inventory-management software provides real-time visibility, traceability and reporting functionality to improve material handling and stock control. Custom configurations are available to fit evolving layout or capacity needs.
