Robot Versatility on Display at the Kuka Booth

At Automate, automated bin picking, palletizing and welding, as well as demonstrations of autonomous mobile robots shared the spotlight at the Kuka booth. Also noted: the focus on Kuka Digital, technology developed to digitize the entire production lifecycle—from the first 3D simulation to connectivity and data analysis, and including the use of artificial intelligence for a fully digitized and automized shopfloor. Included is software to support robotic simulation and programming, as well as robot networking accomplished with Kuka.iiQoT for a completely data-driven factory.
A highlight: Using Photoneo's Bin Picking Studio software, demonstrated via a Kuka KR Cybertech-2 robot programmed to pick partially machined spur gears from a randomly assorted bin, and then place the gears onto portable part trays. Then, a model KR Agilus-2 machine-tending robot picked the parts from the trays for simulated processing through a vertical milling machine.
