Fagor Arrasate Begins Expansion of Its Mondragón, Spain Plant
July 11, 2025Comments
Fagor Arrasate is investing more than 20 million euros to expand its headquarters facility in Mondragón, Spain, aimed at modernizing and expanding its production capacity as well as optimizing and reorganizing its industrial spaces. The initiative includes the construction of a new approximately 6000-sq.-m building adjacent to the current facilities on land previously used as a parking lot.
The new building will house a unit for machining large structures weighing as much as 200 tons, which will centralize heavy-machining operations in Mondragón. New boring and milling machines, featuring tables as long as 30 m, will equip the unit not only to enhance quality standards, but also to reduce energy consumption and CO₂ emissions.
The new industrial building will be awarded LEED Gold certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), granted by the U.S. Green Building Council. A new parking area will feature photovoltaic canopies that will generate renewable energy for self-consumption, helping to reduce CO₂ emissions, improve the plant’s energy efficiency and strengthen the commitment to sustainability and the energy transition.
The project, scheduled for completion in April 2026, is expected to be operational at the beginning of 2027.
