An audience of key personnel from major OEM and Tier One metal forming companies descended on Canton, MI, in early June as Andritz Schuler Inc. and Andritz BCN Inc., subsidiaries of the Andritz Schuler Group, hosted the Andritz Schuler Service Workshop. The workshop’s function: showcase the recently expanded range of products and services following Schuler’s full integration with Andritz.
“This strategic integration opens many doors for our customers, as we now have an even larger global footprint to increase our availability and create growth that matters,” shares Kevin McAllister, president of North America for Andritz Schuler.
McAllister, along with Carlos Valdes, managing director of Andritz BCN, Telvi Zanin, vice president of service for Andritz Schuler, and others shared the stage to present a variety of product and service initiatives.
Sessions included the following:
- Retrofits and Modernization Solutions: Case studies addressed issues with obsolete parts and explained how controls upgrades and modernizations maximize production capabilities.
- Service Made for You: Field service, welding repair and inspection were highlighted as service offerings that support predictive maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Reduce Downtime and Costs with Spare Parts: Insights on critical parts, key support personnel and strategic planning were shared to help prevent unforeseen downtime.
- Get Proactive with Service Agreements and Training: Highlighted were solutions for maintenance, remote service, spare parts, safety checks, inspections, data-safe solutions and customer-training support.
- Automation and Digitalization: Speakers focused on inhouse automation solutions and Metris digital tools designed to optimize production processes, increase productivity and improve part quality. Metris offerings include Visual Die Protection (VDP), which employs artificial intelligence to detect potential sources of die damage in advance; camera-based intermediate and final inspection of components; and Track and Trace serialization that tracks parts throughout production, enabling traceability and helping to prevent counterfeiting.
Also on the agenda, a presentation from Schaeffler, a Tier One manufacturer, which highlighted its experience with VDP. The camera-based system has helped Schaeffler protect dies while delivering a rapid return on investment.
The event also included a shop tour of Andritz Schuler’s 32,000-sq.-ft. Michigan Avenue Service Facility, where attendees viewed 50-, 10- and 5-ton cranes; inhouse press pit; specialized equipment; and the digital-products showroom.
