Stop by the booth of Phoenix Hydraulic Presses, Hilliard, OH, to discuss how its customer, a Tier One automotive supplier, uses a specialized four-column press to achieve precise press fits of large roller-bearing races into bearing housings. Built-in force and position monitoring has resulted in a significant reduction of rejected parts and downstream inspection time. Each part recipe specifies the exact pressure and ram position required for an acceptable press fit. High position and force-reversal accuracy ensures that the specified tolerances are met on each cycle. Pressing capacity ranges from 1000 to 300,000 lb.
