Talan Products, Cleveland, OH, has installed a remanufactured Minster Hevi-Stamper 600-ton press. With a bed size of 132 by 54 in., it becomes the largest press in the Talan production system. It features a 12-in. stroke and can operate at speeds to 50 strokes/min. It anchors a press line capable of handling high-strength, low-alloy steel coil to 36 in. wide by 0.375 in. thick, and 12 in. wide by 0.5 in. thick. The line includes new controls as well as a new cradle and leveler, and new feeders.

In addition, Talan has installed a new vibratory deburring machine, capable of handling stampings to 14-in. dia.

“This is a major step forward for us, in that it will enable us to move a lot of our outsourced work inhouse,” says Steve Peplin, Talan’s CEO, commenting on the new line. “It will move more of our manufacturing capabilities into a centralized location, which will help to further improve the ease of doing business with Talan.”
