How BEV Production Impacts Robotic Welding
With the automotive industry playing catch-up amidst a pandemic-induced slowdown, the future looks bright. A subset of the sector, battery electric vehicles (BEVs), represent a huge growth area, with nearly all forecasters predicting big things in coming years.

With ballooning BEV demand comes accelerated demand for automated production of these vehicles. Vehicle designs will determine weld requirements, and necessitate use of a variety of robotic-welding processes. That’s the word from Fanuc America Corp., which reports heavy current battery-assembly work, and automation demand all along the vehicle and infrastructure pipeline.
