ABB Introduces Braking-Distance Simulator to Improve Safety and Reduces Robot-Cell Footprint     ABB has upgraded its RobotStudio offline-programming and simulation software with a new virtual robot braking-distance function that creates an exact simulation of the real-world stopping distance of an industrial robot. The function avoids the need to add safety margins into cell designs, enabling floorspace savings of as much as 25 percent, say company officials. Hypertherm Accepting Applications for Educational Grant Hypertherm is accepting applications for its Spark Something Great educational grant program, with applications due by April 2 and grant decisions communicated by May 3. In total, Hypertherm plans to award a Powermax45 XP plasma cutting system and deliver in-person training to 12 North American schools. The power source, weighing 22 lb., can use 115- or 230-V primary power and delivers a rated output of 40 A at 40-percent duty-cycle or better.
