Xometry Acquires Thomas, Accelerating the Manufacturing Industry’s Digital Transformation
Xometry, Rockville, MD, a global marketplace for on- demand manufacturing, has announced the acquisition of Thomas (Thomasnet.com), a provider of product sourcing, sup- plier selection and digital marketing solutions. The cash and stock transaction, valued at $300 million, is expected to close by presstime.

GF Machining Solutions Invests in North American Medical Manufacturing
GF Machining Solutions, Lincolnshire, IL, has established a Medical Center of Competency and has appointed Donn Wuestenberg as medical business development manager. The new center, scheduled to open later this year, will provide North American medical-industry manufacturers with compre- hensive applications support along with worldclass production technologies, including precision milling, EDM, laser texturing, micromachining and automation. Its teams will provide strate- gies and technologies for improving the production of medical instruments, orthopedic and trauma implants, consumables, dental parts, packaging, and more.
Wuestenberg, with more than 20 years of manufacturing experience, is a master electrician and journeyman industrial electrician, and has expertise in plant production, project design, and die/mold and production machinery for medical parts.

Facilities
Grand Steel Products Opens New Tenn. Facility
Grand Steel Products, Wixom, MI, a flat-rolled steel service center and steel distributor, has opened a new toll-processing and warehousing facility in Clinton, TN. Grand Steel Processing-TN operates two slitting lines, with coil capacity to 25 tons received by truck and rail (three-car indoor rail-siding serviced by NS) for inbound and outbound shipments.
The acquisition of Thomas will rapidly expand Xometry’s buyer and seller base, enhancing its global digital marketplace, according to company officials. Xometry also expects to lever- age Thomas’ marketing and data services to deliver end-to-end services for sellers with additional marketing products.
“Xometry and Thomas share a common mission of champi- oning the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry, one of the largest sectors of the global economy and the foun- dation for innovation everywhere,” says Xometry CEO Randy Altschuler. “Thomas brings strong brand equity, trusted and extensive relationships, proprietary data, and advanced full- funnel marketing services.”
At the end of Q3 2021, Xometry had 26,187 active buyers, including nearly 30 percent of the Fortune 500. Leveraging AI and machine-learning technology, the Xometry marketplace reportedly provides immediate pricing, delivery lead times and quality assurance in a highly fragmented environment, as well as a suite of financial products that enable manufacturers to grow their businesses.
Wauseon Machine Acquires McAlister Design to Expand Automation Capabilities
Wauseon Machine and Manufacturing, Inc., Wauseon OH, a provider of robotic automation, tube-fabrication equipment
and build-to-print precision machined parts, has acquired McAlister Design and Automation LLC, Greenville, SC. The acquisition, say company officials, is a springboard for Wauseon Machine’s ambitious growth plans to make its automation capabilities and services available in more regions of the country.
McAlister, specialists in robotics, vision systems, semiauto- matic operator workcells and welding-automation systems, operates from four facilities, totaling 48,000 sq. ft.
