Western Michigan Stamper Comes to Toyota’s Rescue
GR Spring & Stamping, Grand Rapids, MI, a long- time Toyota supplier, was selected as the supplier to produce the stainless-steel reinforcement shims to repair Toyota’s North Ameri- can vehicles subjected to the gas-pedal recall. The recall affected 4.2 million vehicles worldwide and
2.3 million in the United States.
GR Spring & Stamping is a four-time recipient of Toyota’s Supplier Achievement award for quality and delivery.
Hirschmann Engineering USA Moves
A new 4800-sq.-ft. facil- ity in Schaumburg, IL, is the new home of Hirschmann Engineering USA, Inc. The facility will be used for product demonstrations, technical support, sales and marketing activities and dis- tribution of Hirschmann products—dielectric and grinding fluids, EDM tooling and supplies, and more.
Also operating out of the facility is Hirschmann Automation LLC, a systems integrator.
Honda Adds Multi-Material Blanking Line to ’Bama Plant
Automatic Feed Co., Napoleon, OH, has installed a new blanking line at the new Honda plant in Lincoln, AL. The line features auto- matic changeover capability to process aluminum and steel coil at speeds to
91 m/min. and blanking- press speed to 80 strokes/min. It stamps material from 0.4 to 2.0 mm, for large parts such as body sides as well as smaller interior parts, and uses Automatic Feed’s Soft Piling stacker technolo- gy that ensures precise stacks regardless of materi- al type. Soft Piling results in stacks located to within ±1 mm of total stack height.
Georgia Service Center Installs Multi-Blanking Line
The Phoenix Metals facility in Norcross, GA, installed a 72-in. precision multi-blanking line from Red Bud Industries, Red Bud, IL. The line can process mild steel to 0.135 in. thick and stainless steel to 0.105 in. as presently configured —the firm may add an addi- tional leveler to the line to take stainless-steel capacity to 0.250 in. Included is a precision grip-feed system and CNC programmable slit- ter, capable of holding blank width and length tol- erances of ±0.005 in.
