Legislative Conference a Success, in Every Way Possible

in Washington, D.C.,
May 6-7, 2014 for
the Sixth Annual
PMA/NTMA One
Voice Legislative
Conference. PMA
and NTMA members
participated in more
than 150 House and
Senate meetings,
including a session with House Speaker John Boehner. Attendees also participated in 15 small, private lunches with members of Congress and their staffs.
Indiana members met with Senator Joe Donnelly.
Conversations focused on several key issues, including tax reform and the Workforce Investment Act, to help close the skills gap. During their visits, manufacturers also specif- ically urged Congress to support the R&D bill, which the House passed two days after the visits. The legislation permanently extends and strengthens the Alternative Simpli- fied R&D tax credit at 20 percent.
Minnesota members met with Congressman Keith Ellison.
