The Reshoring Initiative and Intellilink Seek Partner for BOP Reshoring Project
The Reshoring Initiative and Intellilink Solutions, Inc., Kildeer, IL, are seeking a company to participate in a joint research project to confirm whether back-office processes (BOPs) can be reshored competitively using local U.S.-based staff and robotic-process-automation software. If the project is successful, the participating company can achieve higher productivity and an ongo- ing 50-percent cost savings vs. offshore outsourcing. The United States reportedly will have the potential to bring back as many as one million BOP jobs even at the higher productivity levels.
The project participant can be from any industry but must be spending at least $150,000/year on offshored BOPs either directly, or through an outside firm. Suitable process areas include activities within finance and accounting, human resources, or information technology.
The BOP research project aims to confirm that one software robot and one local-client employ- ee are capable of undertaking the work of five offshore resources. For the participating company, Intellilink will offer consulting resources at a discounted cost of 25 percent of its usual consulting- bill rate and provide a free trial software robot to use during the research project. In exchange, the participating company will fully document its results and economics under the project. For details, visit www.reshorenow.org.
La-Z-Boy Takes Delivery of Feed Lines from Dallas Industries
Dallas Industries, Troy, MI, a manufacturer of coil-han- dling, press-feeding equip- ment and controls for the stamping industry, has announced that the La-Z-Boy facility in Neosho, MO, has taken delivery on two feed lines. One line is a 36-in.-wide conventional line featuring a model DRF-536 cabinet mounted servo-feed, thread- ing table, model DPS-3.5-36-7 powered straightener and a 20,000-lb.-load-capacity reel with load car. The second line is an 18-in.-wide conventional feed line featuring La-Z-Boy’s existing model DRF-418 cabi- net-mounted servo feed (with a new controls retrofit), threading table, model DPS-3- 18-7 powered straightener and a 6000-lb.-load-capacity reel.

ProfileSelect is a unique feed-control sys- tem and a Dallas Industries exclusive. It uses a cam- motion (sinusoidal) profile for a feed motion that utilizes 100 percent of the press-feed window, reducing stress on the material and the feed’s mechanical components.

Solar Atmospheres, Her- mitage, PA, announced that it has added tensile testing to its repertoire of mechanical test- ing. The tensile tests are essential in determining and understanding material strength. Many aerospace specifications demand at least one tensile test to be per- formed on each heat lot of material and/or for every fur- nace load of components being heattreated.
