The FeederPlus linear robot system from Strothmann, equipped with addi- tional rotating axes that can orient
blanks during transfer, promises to outperform conventional six-axis robots in press-automation applica- tions, in terms of speed and flexibility. The concept, proven in many tandem press lines, can perform rotary motions in the B axis—orienting the rotating arm. Due to a laterally offset design,
the diagonal speed component can be eliminated. The unit suits operation in press gaps measuring at least 6500 mm and as large as 11,000 mm; maximum load is 125 kg. Repeatability, ±0.25 mm.
Also on display: the CompactTrans- fer system that makes orientation sta- tions between presses unnecessary. The system picks up the parts, orients them and places them in the following press all by itself. www.strothmann-us.com

Varying progressions through a transfer die can be simulated along with stock lift at stations independent of the other stations. Rotation of the part also can be simulated, as can every other func- tion including cams.
In addition to the visual animation, interference also can be checked through the entire tool as the parts of the die are moving exactly as they would in the press. This includes the strip, or in the case of a transfer die the individual parts, as they are lifting, advancing and even rotating in the press.
