While Formnext 2020 will not allow attendees to meet with exhibitors in person, it offers a unique and valuable option: AI-powered matchmaking, a service that matches exhibitors and visitors based on their profiles and registration details. All participants can see contacts relevant to them and can proactively arrange appointments.
As much as they tried, organizers of the Formnext 2020 additive-manufacturing (AM) event finally decided that due to the COVID-19 pandemic and rising infection rates, along with increasing travel restrictions, that they would not be able to safely bring the AM community together in person. In its place: Formnext Connect, a virtual event planned for November 10-12, 2020. In this comprehensive, multimedia event, exhibitors will provide technology presentations, and attendees also can attend an extensive online supporting program—"safe and comfortable any place in the world," notes the event website. A unique and valuable option for attendees: AI-powered matchmaking, a service that matches exhibitors and visitors based on their profiles and registration details. All participants can see contacts relevant to them and proactively can arrange appointments.

"During the crisis, the AM industry has shown the potential of flexible, diversified and decentralized production," notes the Formnext planning team. "There is no doubt that AM will be one of the leading technologies that will show the way out of the crisis. It will play a major role in the development of new products, the design of resilient supply chains and the development of sustainable business models. An up-to-date overview of the developments and the exchange between technology providers and users is, therefore, more than necessary…reason for us now to put all our energy into the concept for a virtual Formnext."

Included in the virtual Formnext platform are opportunities to learn how design-to-manufacturing technologies are making a real impact in the manufacturing world. Case in point is this display from Formnext 2019 from SLM Solutions, showcasing the handiwork of its SLM 500 quad-laser machine used to build these automotive steering knuckles from AlSi10Mg powder.
The Formnext technical program consists of conference sessions, keynote addresses, technology showcases, awards ceremonies and webinars. Throughout, attendees will gain insight into numerous relevant industry topics, the latest trends and innovations in industrial AM technologies. Exchange ideas with experts, colleagues, customers and exhibitors in real-time live chats or video calls using web-based functionality integrated into the event platform―no additional applications are required.

"The four-day educational platform features the AM industry's most inspirational figures," note Formnext planners, "who share their experience on how design-to-manufacturing technologies are making a real impact in the manufacturing world. This is where future insights and developments in aerospace, automotive, medical and dental sectors are explored, in addition to product design and new research on materials and processes. The practical case studies and insightful talks not only will supply attendees with a detailed overview of this fast-growing industry, but also advise on how AM can be adopted successfully."

Further, the Formnext team will provide access to Formnext Connect until December 31, 2020, allowing visitors to consume all of the content on-demand. This gives you time flexibility and allows you to benefit from the content and the network even after the event. 3DMP
