Stack Gains Quintus Press and Entry Into Hot Isostatic Pressing

Portland, OR-based Stack Metallurgical Group announced has expanded its heattreatment and metal-processing portfolio with the addition of a hot isostatic press by Sweden-based Quintus Technologies. The QIH 286 Mega-HIP, equipped with proprietary uniform rapid cooling and featuring a large-capacity work zone of 63 in. in dia. and 102 in. height, allowing densification of large batches at 29,000 psi and a maximum operating temperature of 2280°F.

Stack CEO Doug Puerta says his company conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the HIP market before deciding to add the complementary service. Quintus has delivered more than 1800 systems worldwide to customers representing industries such as aerospace, automotive, energy, and medical implants.
