Vacuum Suction Cups for Hot-Forming Applications

Schmalz Inc., Raleigh, NC, introduces its HT2 vacuum suction cups designed for handling sheetmetal during the hot-forming process, to replace the use of mechanical grippers.

The suction cups, of a silicone-free material, resist temperatures to 480 F. Compared to using mechanical grippers, metalformers using the cups will enjoy improved safety and productivity, shortened cycle times, and quick tool assembly and adjustment. The cups also allow better handling of uneven workpieces, since mechanical grippers only grasp parts at the edge.

The firm also has expanded its series of vacuum ejectors with the SEAC-RP model, a decentralized vacuum ejector with an integrated air-saving function. Short gripping and blowoff times allow short cycle times in automated operations. And, the unit’s compact design and lightweight aluminum construction allow its use in robotic applications.
