Mercedes-Benz in Alabama Dipping into the High Schools for Apprentices
May 8, 2023Comments
Mercedes-Benz has begun offering apprenticeships to students as young as 16, via its Mercedes-Benz Modern Manufacturing Apprenticeship Program, established in January 2022 to provide a hands-on experience for students looking to join the automotive industry.
“They’re learning how to operate tuggers, they’re learning how to sequence… the skill set is phenomenal,” says Brandy Snipes, technical program management specialist.
Students enrolled in the program work after school and earn a starting hourly wage of $15, which increases as they complete additional training. After graduation, students can accept a full-time position with full benefits. And the company offers tuition reimbursement for students looking to continue their education while working for the company.
