Lars Moravy, Tesla’s head of vehicle engineering, provides a tour of the Giga Factory in Austin, TX, explaining how it builds Cybertruck Class A stainless-steel panels. On the tour: blanking, straightening and hot stamping operations. Moravy calls stamping “the core of our business,” explaining that the firm operates some 127 metal stamping presses to 5000-ton capacity. Also featured: the 21-station hot-stamping line forming door-ring inners, five-axis laser cutting, robotic press brake bending and laser welding.
