New Dallas Feed Line at Apex Spring & Stamping

Dallas Industries, Troy, MI, has delivered a new conventional press-feed line to Apex Spring & Stampings, Grand Rapids, MI, a full-service manufacturer of precision springs, stampings, wire forms and assemblies. The line features a pull-off coil reel with automated braking, powered straightener, threading table, and cabinet-mounted servo feed. Apex will use the line, rated for 6000-lb. coils of material to 18 in. wide, to feed a newly acquired Aida servo press.
Dallas equipped the line with an Allen-Bradley control and its SyncLoop and ProfileSelect features. SyncLoop monitors average line speed and loop depth and automatically adjusts payout speed to ensure smooth payout. ProfileSelect employs a sinusoidal motion profile, rather than the more common trapezoidal profile, which results in smooth feed motion utilizing 100 percent of the press-feed window, reducing stress on the material and on the feed’s mechanical components.
