Fiber Laser Cutting to 60 kW
September 30, 2024Comments
New GV-series fiber laser cutting machines from HSG Laser provide as much as 60 kW of power to meet a range of fabrication needs, including high-speed cutting of material to 3.9 in. thick. Such capability makes the GV series a viable alternative to plasma and flame cutting, according to company officials.
Outfitted with 30-kW laser power, the machine reportedly provides cutting speeds to 400% faster than traditional 12-kW systems, resulting in increased output per unit time and reduced cost per piece. Power recommendations can be tailored to each user’s primary material thickness and future-growth trajectory.
GV-series laser cutting machines offer a maximum acceleration of 6 g and speeds to 984 ft./min., which reportedly translates to a 200% increase in efficiency compared to standard machines when processing the same layout. Another feature: optimized piercing efficiency, with the machines achieving zero-second piercing for medium-thickness plates.
An anti-collision function minimizes collision risks and ensures stable and reliable production, and versatile edge detection offers multiple edge-detection methods in traditional and visual modes. HSG’s Perfect Finishing Cutting function reduces pits or convex slag so that cuts are of consistently high quality, and a smart cutting head monitors the condition of internal lenses in real time and quickly identifies potential cutting risks. Also, the Visual Remnant Utilization feature allows users to repurpose leftover material for additional production runs.
