Solar Atmospheres' South Carolina Plant Awarded Northrop Grumman Approval

The Solar Atmospheres facility in Greenville, SC has been awarded Northrop Grumman approval.  All five of the firm’s facilities now have Northrop Grumman approval for vacuum heattreating services. Able to support vacuum thermal-processing needs ranging from development cycles to 50,000-lb.loads at temperatures of to 2400 F, Solar Atmospheres provides AS9100 and Nadcap quality-accredited heat treatments.

In addition, Solar Atmospheres of California has installed a new 14-ft.-long car-bottom air furnace with a total load capacity of 30,000 lb., a working zone 60 in. square by 168 in. long, and an operating temperature of 1450 F.  The furnace can accommodate tempering of large tool-steel components as well as age-hardening of 15-5 PH, 17-4 PH, 13-8PH and nickel-based alloys, and annealing of titanium forgings.
