Crain’s Chicago Business reports that the new Ram 1500 REV may be built at the former Jeep plant in Belvidere, IL. The plant, which employed more than 1200 people, assembled the Jeep Cherokee. Although it likely would require minimal refurbishment, the article notes, switching it from ICE to EV production could require substantial investment.

Due out in Q4 2024, the 1500 REV has a promised range of more than 500 miles, will produce 654 hp and accelerate from 0 to 60 mi./hr. in 4.4 sec. It’s also expected to be able to tow 14,000 lb. and have a payload capacity of 2700 lb., and provide 350-kW fast charging—meaning 110 miles of range can be added in as little as 10 min.
