Mobile, Robotic Welding-Training Cart Suitable for the Plant Floor
January 29, 2020Comments
The new ABB Mobile Robotic Welding Training Cart, a portable, pre-engineered robotic cell designed specifically for robotic welding training, was highlighted in ABB’s FABTECH booth. Equipment includes a welding robot, controller, power supply and a welding torch. With a small footprint, wheels and folding wings, the welding training cart fits through standard doorways, can be moved easily and requires only single-phase power. Suitable for training on the plant floor, in a classroom or even in a hotel conference room, the new training cart is ideal for companies needing to train operators frequently, and for technical training at universities, trade schools and workforce development organizations.
Components of the cart demonstrated at FABTECH included an ABB IRB 1200 six-axis robot with 7-kg payload; ABB IRC5 compact controller; Miller Electric MillerMatic 211 single-phase 220/230-V power source; Tregaskiss robotic welding Tough Gun; and ABB Bullseye 2 calibration torch, which allows definition and automatic updating of the tool center point and torch angle. Also, the cart contains external connectors for all signals and a built-in, expandable 16-in, 16-out I/O system, as well as built-in fume-extraction and arc-shielding apparatus.
