Faro’s updated CAM2 modular software ecosystem for 3D-measurement operations features five software offerings, each one tailored to meet specific manufacturing measurement needs and overall fulfill inspection and quality-assurance functions.
This level of modularity means that users can avoid the challenges associated with purchasing additional software beyond their workflow requirements, explain company officials. That means point-cloud software for scanning devices and probing software for probing devices, or a hybrid probing- and scanning-software approach for solutions such as a FaroArm portable measurement arm with laser-line probes.
CAM2 reportedly streamlines industrial-metrology applications for dimensional controls, incoming-parts and first-article inspections, part-to-CAD comparisons, assemblies, repeat-part measurements, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. It improves and increases the efficiency of measurement routines, according to Faro officials, and provides an effective correlation between quality assurance and production operations.
