Hot Stamping Experience and Tech Tour Recap 2024

CommentsThe 2024 Hot Stamping Experience and Tech Tour welcomed more than 50 participants to Charleston, SC, on November 20-21 for the 6th annual event! Attendees took part in two days of presentations, networking and a plant tour of the Nucor Steel Berkeley mill in Huger, SC. 

Day One
The event kicked off with Paul Belanger highlighting how Gestamp performs PHS giga stamping. After Paul, presentations from experts at Schuler North America and Diversified Tooling Group covered compact rotation furnaces as well as hot stamping defects and best practices. Day one concluded with a networking reception for attendees, speakers and sponsors. 

Day Two
The second day of the event featured speakers from Trumpf North America, T.J. Snow, Eagle Press & Equipment and Nucor Automotive. These experts explored new production strategies for press-hardened-steel (PHS) parts, hot-stamped steel and projection welding, critical considerations when ordering a press line, and the compact-strip production process for PHS grades. 

The event concluded with a tour of the Nucor Steel Berkely mill in Huger, SC. Attendees were able to view the production of variety of steel products, including structural-steel and carbon-steel plate and sheet products.

Information about the 2025 event will be available in the summer.
