    Coil-Line Maintenance

In today’s fast-paced manufacturing industry, equipment reliability is essential for maintaining productivity and minimizing costly downtime. This webinar explores the benefits of preventive maintenance over reactive repairs, offering strategies to enhance machine performance and longevity.

We begin by addressing the critical question: “Maintain or Repair?” Unscheduled breakdowns can disrupt operations, increase costs, and compromise safety. In contrast, preventive maintenance reduces unexpected failures, improves efficiency, and ensures a safer work environment.

A key focus is maintenance planning and record-keeping. Proper documentation—whether in notebooks, spreadsheets, or databases—helps identify patterns, anticipate failures, and streamline maintenance efforts. We also explore predictive maintenance, which integrates manufacturer guidelines, historical data, and operator observations to optimize schedules.

The webinar covers essential maintenance areas, including lubrication, power transmission, mechanical assembly, and working surfaces. Proper lubrication reduces wear in bearings, gears, and chains, while power transmission maintenance ensures optimal torque transmission and alignment. Mechanical assembly checks prevent vibration-related issues, and surface maintenance minimizes slippage and material handling problems.

We also highlight coil reel and uncoiler maintenance, focusing on material tension control, brake performance, and hydraulic system upkeep. Additionally, electrical system maintenance is crucial for preventing failures in motor connections, drive amplifiers, and fluid ingress points.

Finally, we outline best practices for an effective maintenance strategy, including:

    • Regular maintenance scheduling to prevent failures
    • Detailed record-keeping to track performance trends
    • Operator training to recognize and report issues
    • Proactive problem-solving to minimize downtime
    • Manufacturer consultations for expert guidance

By implementing a structured maintenance approach, manufacturers can extend equipment life, boost efficiency, and reduce costly repairs. Don’t wait for a breakdown—maintain for success!

    Lubrication Best Practices
Enrique Parra, Sales Manager Mexico, Unist, Inc.

    10:30 a.m.

    Lubrication Best Practices

Why lube application is important for any forming process?

We will discuss tracking data and monitoring the fluid application process. Not only will we talk about how this is possible, but we will also talk about why it is important and how we are setting up our plants for success in the future as the press room continues to modernize!

Parra will be using an analogy from an everyday life situation that we can all relate to. Similar to how we make a New resolution!

First, he will establish—and many probably already know—what Manufacutring 4.0 is by definition:

The fourth industrial revolution, the ongoing automation of traditional manufacturing using SMART technology

Utlizing Machine to machine communication and IoT—Internet of thing: SO WHAT IS IoT then? IoT is the communication of self-monitoring machines that can analyze and diagnose issues without human interaction.
