lauffer-hydraulic-press-fabtech-2024Lauffer developed its new S-Line of servo-hydraulic presses striving to optimize productivity, efficiency and sustainability. Engineers focused on press performance, part quality, operating costs and acquisition costs.

At the heart of the new press line: a variable-distortion pump with variable-speed drive, scalable due to its modular design. This system, note company officials, largely eliminates valve technology found in conventional hydraulics, reducing throttle losses and increasing energy efficiency. Maintenance costs, required oil volume and cooling capacity also are reduced.

Lauffer's advanced control technology allows for stroke-by-stroke monitoring and analysis of the forming process. Deviations in forces quickly are identified to ensure consistent part quality. The presses, recommended for demanding deep-drawing applications, provide energy recuperation by converting blankholder force into electrical energy, feeding the energy directly to the main drive. Energy savings reportedly can reach 35%.

Lauffer is represented in the United States by Weller Machinery Co., Germantown, WI; Production Technologies Intl. LLC, St. Claire Shores, MI; and TEK-Sales and Solutions, Sparta, TN.
