Roemheld North America, Fenton, MO, a provider of automatic clamping solutions, has introduced its Flexline I 4.0-ready rapid-clamping system for presses and punches, designed to enable predictive maintenance and promising to help stabilize the production process and avoid downtime. The clamps continuously monitor the clamping point and production process, allowing for early detection of potential problems, and their modular design reportedly enables easy retrofits to almost any type of press and die.
"Many press operators are excited about the potential of digitizing and networking their systems with little effort," says Andreas Reich, Roemheld product manager for die and mold clamping.
In addition to their monitoring capabilities, Flexline I 4.0-ready clamps offer numerous configuration options to suit a wide range of applications. Other characteristics include a double-piston 19-mm clamping stroke, and a maximum travel speed of 150 mm/sec.
"We believe that Industry 4.0-compatible clamping systems like Flexline I 4.0-ready will be the future," adds Reich. "In addition to positioning and clamping, these clamps can control additional functions in the die and supply condition monitoring while providing actual data."
