MetalForming LIVE concluded its 2024 series with On the Shop Floor on December 11, 2024. On the Shop Floor includes interviews with metal forming executives discussing their company’s use of servo presses as well as videos from their shops featuring the presses in action.

The second part of the series featured servo press case studies on Concord Tool & Manufacturing and T & C Stamping, Inc.

Case Study #1: Concord Tool & Manufacturing
This family-owned metal former opened its doors in 1966, and has become a preferred supplier for Toyota and other OEMs. Following a major expansion in 2017 and the addition of a new toolroom and robotic-spot-welding operation in 2018, the firm invested in its first servo press (a 600-ton Nidec Minster model) in 2024. The results have been so impressive that it’s already ordered a second servo press, an 800-ton model.

Speakers

• Mark Coleman, Owner and President, T &C Stamping, Inc.
• Troy Hardaway, Production Manager, T & C Stamping, Inc.
• Scott Braito, Sales Director, Seyi America

Case Study #2: T & C Stamping, Inc.
T & C provides metal stampings, tool and die, and subassembly services from the company's 96,000-sq.-ft. facility in Athens, AL. In 2023, after much contemplation and research, T&C decided to purchase a 330-ton servo press (a Seyi model), believing that the benefits of a servo press would give the firm the competitive advantage it sought to overcome the risk of offshoring. Says the company’s marketing director, Weston Coleman: "A servo press certainly is one way to become more competitive. With the technical aspects of the servo, there are features that allow us to be more efficient and run at higher stroke speeds."
