Charles Day Steels, Sheffield, England, has added a laser bevel-cutting machine to its shop floor. The 12-kW machine enables cuts at any angle to 50 deg., eliminating the need for manual grinding and weld preparation. The firm eyes the new machine as a powerful complement to its existing waterjet-cutting capabilities.
The new machine boasts a large 6510 by 2600-mm bed, allowing for the rapid processing of plate to 40 mm thick and ensuring a seamless transition from cutting to assembly, as well as reduced post-processing time and labor costs.
